Clash of generations

Generations Chess Clash 2014

Investing in education, training and research is the best investment we can make for Europe's future. - Androulla Vassiliou

The 8th Aquaprofit-Polgar Chess Festival was organised under the patronage of Mrs. Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the European Commission.

The Judit Polgar Chess Foundation supports chess and chess tournaments that can bring together people of different ages, races, ethnics, genders, social-, and economic background in an activity they can all enjoy, and also a great emphasis has been placed on assisting cooperation between different generations.

The Generations Chess Clash event has been listed among the main programmes of the Chess Festival for three years. In the Generations Chess Clash families took on families in a multi-generational chess competition, supported by the European Commission. Each team was composed of a child, a parent and a grandparent. In 2014 the Generations Chess Clash event was opened by Judit Polgar and Dr. Tamas Szucs, Head of the European Commission Representation in Hungary.
